Every single village of india now has access to electricity PM Modi. New Delhi: All villages in India have now been connected with electricity ,prime minister Narendra Modi had announced on sunday. On saturday evening, Leisang village in Manipur senapati district became the last village to be connected to national power grid. AS per officials data there were 18,452 villages without electricity in the country at the country at the time of PM modi's taking office in may 2014. "Electricity reached all Indian villages on saturday,"PM Modi said in a tweet.'Yesterday we fulfilled a commitment due to which the lives of several Indians will be transformed forever' he added. The work of bringing power to India's nearly 6 LAKHS villages had been undertaken under the govt deen Upadhyaya gram jyoti yojana. Karnataka Assembly elections 2018:2655 candidates in the fray   Bengaluru:A total of 2655 candidates are i8n fray for ensuing may 12 karnataka legislative Assembly polls,according to a data from the state Chief Electoral Office. Of the 3509 who filed valid nominations by the last date on tuesday, 583 candidates with drew by friday and 271 were rejected after their papers were scrutinised on Wednesday, according to the data which was made available on friday night. Of the candidates in fray, including 219 women, 222 from the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), 201 from Janata Dal-Secular(JD-S),1,155 independents and 800 from other national, regional parties, according to the final list released by the poll panel. It is my democratic right to vote in Karnataka Assembly elections;Vijay Mallya London: Embattedd liquor tycoon Vijay Mallya said on Friday that it was his democratic right to vote in the Karnataka assembly elections scheduled for may 12.He however,added that prevailing conditions mean that he won't be able to. Mallya,who fled to UK, is on trail at the westminster Magistrates court which will rule if he can be extradited to India to face charges of fraud and money laundering amounting to around rs 9,000 crs.Previously,he was a MP in Rajya Sabha from Karnataka."Yes,it's my democratic right to vote in Karnataka but conditions of my bail are such that I can't leave the UK,"the 62 year old was quoted as saying by news agency ANI."I haven't been following the politics there so cannot comment on the political development." IIT Madras students plan HUG DAY to protest moral policing on campus S tudents of IIT Madras held a demonstration on the campus on monday by hugging each other this  came after a clerical staff clicked a picture of a student hugging her male friend on the campus.  On 17th April, the girl,a student of Humanities department,was chatting with her friend while she noticed someone was secretly clicking their pictures and making a video of the two. when she confronted the man,she was shocked to know what the perpetrator Udhayakumar was a staff working with applied mechanics. What is more shocking was,Udhayakumar reasoned it out as saying the he clicked the pictures and videos to show his children about the inappropriate behaviour.
