IIT Madras students plan HUG DAY to protest moral policing on campus
Students of IIT Madras held a demonstration on the campus on monday by hugging each other this came after a clerical staff clicked a picture of a student hugging her male friend on the campus.
On 17th April, the girl,a student of Humanities department,was chatting with her friend while she noticed someone was secretly clicking their pictures and making a video of the two.
when she confronted the man,she was shocked to know what the perpetrator Udhayakumar was a staff working with applied mechanics.
What is more shocking was,Udhayakumar reasoned it out as saying the he clicked the pictures and videos to show his children about the inappropriate behaviour.
The students later met the Dean,the chief security officer but alleged that they asked her not to make big deal out of it.
The girl also alleged that when she approached Adyar police station,a lady officer asked her why she was wearing shorts when the picture was taken.
Udhayakumar,the cleric staff who took the picture was later called and made to delete all the pictures and videos.
